Adult students are matched with individuals who have completed tutor training. Literacy Volunteers employs a 50/50 system of volunteer management that places equal emphasis and resources on intake and support of both learners and tutors. Potential learners are recruited, oriented, assessed and matched with tutors.  The tutor and student pairs meet at least once a week for one or more hours. The pair sets individual goals and then works on skills necessary for attaining those goals. The support focus involves tutor/student follow-up, in-service training of tutors, recognition of tutors and students, newsletters, resource materials, student portfolios, lesson plan development, ongoing learner assessment and re-matching (when necessary). One-to-one tutoring is available in Chippewa County, Dunn County and Eau Claire County.
